The Oxford Manner.

This is the first of my fall essentials posts with more to come. I'm hoping these posts will let you get a feel for my style and what I like to wear. I'm starting with shoes, and the pair I can't go without this fall are oxfords! These are the two pairs I will be walking around in this season. The first pair are the Sam Edelman "Evie"; a white & black snakeskin open toed oxford. They are so unique! I haven't seen a pair like this before and I'm just dying to wear them. The other pair are the Steve Madden "Tuxxedo"; a more simple shoe in a neutral sandy color. These are for when it gets cooler and my toes can't bare to be exposed anymore. what I really like about them is that they aren't too masculine, yet they really don't don't have any feminine touches to them either (like metallic leather or a heel). What is your number one fall must-have pair of shoes?

I Heart Candy

I need a fresh start. I want this post to be short, so I thought I would just share a few photos I came across, and LOVE! 'They're everything I adore; the model is stunning, the environment is sublime, and the styling is perfect. And let's just talk about those circle sunnies... I want them. I will probably post a few more summer editorials in the month of August, and I'm going to be doing a couple fall essentials posts, so look out for those!

Let The Music Play

This post is super late, but I still wanted to put it up. This past wednesday, a friend and I went to a Shinedown concert. It was my third time seeing them, as well as my second time seeing 10 Years, who opened up the show. Also, Chevelle, Sevendust, and Puddle Of Mudd performed. I absolutely loved Puddle Of Mudd! I knew quite a few songs but had never seen them live. They were amazing! I can't get over how much Wes Scantlin (lead singer) looks like Edge (wwe wrestler). Oh and not to mention, Wes came out in a dress! It was awesome. The concert was about 6 hours long, 100 degrees, and outside. It was SO hot, but well worth it! We had special passes, so we had the pleasure of meeting Shinedown. Let me tell you, they are so sweet! The only let down of the night was that Shinedown didn't perform my favorite song, Call Me, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the concert.

Blame It On a Simple Twist Of Fate

If you've checked out the Forever 21 website lately, you probably have noticed the new line called Twist. Now me, personally, I love it. This fall they have it centered around the preppy trend, the collection being called "Love Nerds". I plan to make a trip over to Forever 21 and check out the new stuff. Too Much To Handle

MAC is releasing so many collections this fall, it's hard to keep up! I'm going to be briefly informing you of this years MAC fall collections and telling you which items are interesting me.

The Dare To Wear collection releases on July 29th. The idea of the collection is bright & bold. I tend to wear neutral colors when it comes to makeup, so this collection isn't one that catches my attention. So obviously I won't be picking up anything from this collection because I don't generally wear bright colors. But I do love the promo pictures. This picture reminds me a lot of pop art, and there is a second promo picture here which is very Andy Warhol inspired.

The next collection is an addition to MAC's Viva Glam line. It launches on August 6th, and features 2 corresponding lipglasses to the Gaga & Cyndi lipsticks. I own the Cyndi lipstick but this time around I will be purchasing the Gaga lipglass. In addition to the lipglasses, MAC will be selling two makeup bags (a Cyndi one & a Gaga one), as they did with the Lipstick launch. I will most likely be passing on the makeup bags, because I'm not in need of one. But definitely try to pick up something from the new Viva Glam launch if you can, because 100% of the proceeds go to Aids research.

The Fabulous Felines collection is one of MAC's biggest fall collections this year. It launches on August 26. The collection is split into 3 parts; Palace Pedigreeed (purple), Leopard Luxe (neutral), & Burmese Beauty (green). MAC is releasing a new product with the collection which is the Superslick Liquid Eyeliner (comes in NINE different shades!). I'm not really that excited for the collection, but I am looking forward to the new liquid eyeliners, Smokey Noir (dark blue violet with soft pearl) seems to be the color I want to buy.

The Fall Trend Bags are scheduled to be released on August 26, with The Fabulous Felines Collection. There isn't a lot of information floating around the web about this launch but my guess is that MAC releases three corresponding bags in three different sizes like they did last year with the Style Warriors Collection.

The next collection which also releases on August 26, is Nail Trend F/W 2010. It features six different nail lacquers which are all brand new colors. Based off the promo pictures, three colors are catching my attention; Earthly Harmony (muted taupe with copper shimmer), Rain Of Flowers (blackened violet with violet shimmer), & Jade Dragon (emerald green with teal shimmer). If I were to pick one, hands down it would be Jade Dragon. I'm assuming Earthly Harmony is the one feature in this promo picture. ^

MAC For Rodarte was a collection I was so excited for, but after the sparked controversy I don't know what my opinion is anymore. The collection hits stores on September 15, and a few og the items sound intriguing. Sleepwalker Mineralize Eyeshadow (Beige with copper, pale blue & pale pink veining), Juarez (bright pink opal) & Factory (light opal mint) Nail Lacquers.

On September 16, MAC is releasing three new products, the Pro Longwear Foundation, Concealer, & Lipcreme. I'm assuming that the concept of these products is all day wear. MAC is releasing twelve Lipcreme colors. I'm hoping that the Lipcremes will be creamy & non-drying (hense 'creme'). The only color that I am interested in buying is Prolong which is a classic red.

I briefly mentioned in my Rodarte post that I am extremely excited for The Venomous Villains Collection. I love disney, & even though the packaging is a slight disappointment, I still can't wait for it to launch! The collection launches on September 30, and features four Disney villians; The Evil Queen, Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, & Dr. Facilier. I know have a long list for this collection, so I will do a separate post in the next few days.

The last collection I'm going to mention is this years holiday collection, A Tartan Tale. There hasn't been much information on it released yet, except for that it launches in October.

I hope this information was helpful to someone. And in the next few days I will be posting my wishlist for Venomous Villains as well as a post on my top ten favorite MAC products.

Who Taught The Voodoo That You Do?

Has anyone heard of Alexz Johnson? She is more known in Canada, and If you do know of her, you probably associate her with Instant Star or the old Disney show So Weird. She has really great style & I really like the simplicity of her outfits. She wears a lot of basic things like plain t's, black skinny jeans, blazers, stripes, and white button up shirts. Not to mention, she is beautiful! I definitely suggest watching Instant Star if you enjoy watching teen dramas. Also, if your a fan of Lifetime movies (like myself) I recommend watching Devil's Diary & Stranger With My Face. I just wanted to post some pictures of her that I have been drawing inspiration from.

Messy hair & nice makeup. I don't mind going out with messy hair, but I don't like going out without makeup (especially eye makeup).

2.Would you rather shave your eyebrows or have your eyelashes fall out?

Eyelashes fall out. I hate when people draw their eyebrows in, plus I can always get eyelash extensions.

3.Would you rather be forced to shop at only MAC or Sephora for the rest of your life?

MAC. Although Sephora gives you more options, the makeup is much more expensive.

4.Would you rather wear lipgloss/lipliner look or 80's perm?

80's perm. There is no way I would ever wear lipliner around my lips, with just lipgloss.

5.Would you rather leave the house with an obvious foundation line or overdone blush?

Overdone blush. I'll just tell people I was out in the sun. :)

MC Hammer pants. They have come back in style so it's not like I would be comiting a huge fashion crime. However 90's bike shorts sound kind of fun. shhhh.....

Tan lines. I'm completely against looking orange.

Bad hair color. You can change color, but it takes a while to grow out a bad hair cut.

Getting Excited For Another Fall Collection!

I've mentioned in a few previous posts that I love nail polish, especially OPI. The 2010 Fall Swiss collection comes out in about two weeks, on August 1st. I don't own a lot of fall colors, mostly just pastels. I don't tend to buy a lot of shimmer or frost finishes, mostly just creams. But, most of the colors from this collection that are catching my attention are shimmers, so I'm branching out more. Anyways, here are the colors that I really like and want to purchase.

I know I won't end up purchasing all of these colors, maybe only two or three, because I am saving up my money to buy a new computer. The one color that I MUST purchase is Cucoo For This Color. It is the same color as Jade Is The New Black but in a shimmery finish.

MAC for Rodarte

I'm SO SO SO excited for this collection, as well as the Disney Venomous Villains Collection (but that will be another post). Temptalia just released new promo pictures for some of the products in the collection. It releases on September 15th, and I already have a clear idea of what I want to purchase from the collection. Despite the controversy of the collection, I still am looking forward to the unique colors MAC is coming out with. The packing is very similar to the Alexander Mcqueen collection. Life Is Determined By Pure Randomness

This post is going to be really random. I figured out how to work my old laptop, although it is quite slow. Today I had my senior pictures taken, and I don't think it went well. The picture people kept placing my bangs weird, when I specifically told them where I wanted them. I also went shopping with my mom to help find her a dress to wear to a wedding. While I was at the mall, I stopped at MAC and purchased If It Sparkles... pigment from the Alice & Olivia collection (my first MAC pigment!). I talked about it in my very first post (my wishlist). I also purchased a new brush cleanser, because I was out.

I finally got around to watching Hush. I recorded a few weeks ago when it was on T.V. and totally forgot all about it. My friend was over my house last night, skimming through our T.V. recordings and told me it was an awesome movie. And I love Tori Spelling, so I was totally up for watching it. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and if you love lifetime movies, I definitely suggest watching this one.


I also wanted to talk about the amazing dress Lucy Hale was wearing in this week's Pretty Little Liars episode. It was beautiful, and perfectly accessorized.

Also, who watched Secret Life? Adrienne decided not to get an abortion! I wasn't expecting that. Really?!? Do they need another baby on that show? Lastly, I wanted to mention SYTYCD. My favorite dance of the night by far was Kent & Neil's awesome broadway routine choreographed by Tyce Diorio. Check it out. v

Accept Your Life Unconditionally

So, I have bad news. My laptop power cord broke/stopped working. I'm sparingly using the battery power I have which is very little. I have an old laptop that works perfectly fine, but I can't seem to connect it to the internet. I'll try again tomorrow. So, I'm going to make this post short & quick. Today, a friend and I went shopping at some boutiques & a few thrift stores. We didn't find anything good there, but I picked up two things from the dollar store, and I found an amazing (and huge) Audrey Hepburn framed picture at Ross. They had so many framed pictures that I liked but this one stood out to me the most.

It measures 27" by 40" which is huge. Get this, it was only $20! I have a wall I'm going to put it on, but now I have to find a place for another picture (Couture July 1962 Magazine cover print) I have hanging up. Sadly, the only place available is on my door.

The other two things I picked up were both $1 each. I got a pair of falsies and a nail art polish in black.

I have senior pictures tomorrow, which sucks. I'm not to thrilled about getting them taken, but I am going shopping again tomorrow, so that's exciting. It's actually to help my mom find a dress to a wedding she's going to. I'll be sure to do an update post on the AH picture once it is up on my wall!

Not Your Average Teen: Blog Bash 2010

My name is Victoria, I'm 17 years old, and a high school senior. I have a love for style, art, and beauty. I live in a small town (so cliche), and I plan on schooling in New York to pursue a career in fashion (preferably merchandising or journalism). I'm currently enrolled in a fashion & textiles course for half of my school day at a local technology center. Things you need to know about me: I love Randy Orton, nail polish, television, makeup, and I'm a supporter of Miley Cyrus.

1.) Why do you blog?

I blog because it's a great way to share my ideas, interests, and opinions with other people. I've always wanted to start a Youtube channel, but talking to a camera isn't the most easy thing for me. So, blogging is a more comfortable and convenient alternative.

2.) What do you blog about?

Well, I made this blog to talk about makeup and fashion, but I will be sneaking in a little bit of TV & music as well.

3.) What do you find to be the biggest reward you get from blogging?

Just the little things, like when I see someone has left me a comment, or tells me they like my blog, it makes me so happy. I just really like sharing my thoughts and notions with other people.

4.) How long have you been blogging?

I've only been blogging for a week! I had wanted to start a blog for so long, and I finally just said what the hell? Why not?

5.) Let's hear the story behind your blog title! :)

Well, I differentiate Style & Fashion as two different things. Fashion is merely what you wear, while style is all about the person wearing the fashion. Style is something that comes from you, and you should never be ashamed of it. Be who you want to be, and don't let people tell you other wise. As John Fairchild said, "Style is an expression of individualism mixed with charisma. Fashion is something that comes after style."
