Getting a Head Start

I'm so sick of summer! Where I live, we are having a major heat wave. I just wish it was fall already. Fall is my favorite season. One, because the weather is so nice. I love watching the leaves change colors and fall just gives me a nice warm feeling. And two, because you can layer your clothes! So that leads me to the point of this post, which is tights. I LOVE tights! And pretty much all of fall, I will be wearing them! I mostly wear brown, black, and very dark colors but this fall I am going to branch out. So, I've been looking online and have found some tights I really like.

Leopard Tights

I really want a pair of leopard tights, especially after seeing one of my favorite fashion bloggers sport them in a couple of outfits on Lookbook. ( One & Two)

Two-Sided Tights

These have to be my favorite pair I found. They are unique but still so versatile for many dresses and outfits. I deffinitely plan on purchasing these.

Tartan Tights

During fall & winter I catch myself wearing a lot of black outfits, and these tights would be perfect to throw under a black dress or a pair of black shorts to break up the solid color.

Bow Tights

These are just so cute & delicate, and can be worn with so many different things.

Punctuation Tights

These are so unexpected, and that's what I love about them. It would take me a lot of courage to get the nerve to wear these, but I think I really want to get them.

Heart Socks

I totally used to be against socks like these, mainly because there was an outfit someone wore involving socks like these, which kind of ruined them for me. And let's just say I wouldn't be caught dead in that outfit. Now I really like socks like these. (Thank you Lookbook!)

Union Jack Tights

These are probably the craziest pair I picked out. I could absolutely see myself wearing these, but think I would be afraid to. But that's the point of branching out. You have to try new things, be more adventurous, and just go for it!

I think tomorrow I'm going to do a makeup storage and organization post. So look out for that!

Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board.

If you've been watching Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family, you may have noticed Aria's (Lucy Hale's) great sense of style. In the third episode To Kill A Mocking Girl, Lucy Hale was wearing a feather earring. I fell in LOVE! I've seen many feather earrings but none like this. The one she wore was really long but it wasn't obnoxious because the colors were neutral and it layed nicely in her hair. I had never been interested in buying them, but after seeing this one I've been all over Etsy looking for the perfect one. I'm going shopping around town with a friend on Tuesday and maybe I'll have some luck in finding one. I'm also going to hit up a few thrift stores so I'll let you know if I snag anything good. Here is the photo of the feather earring, and a few other outfits that I liked (sorry if the quality is bad, they are screen shots from my itunes).

Always Bring Your Best Guacamole...

Another failed day for blogging. My plan for the past two days was to photograph my OPI nail polishes with swatches for a post. I tweeted about my experience with that all day. Let's just say, I'll be holding off on that post for a while. Instead I'll be posting something a little different... HOW TO MAKE GUACAMOLE! Don't expect these kind of posts often... OR AT ALL! I'm not the cooking type, but since my planned post didn't work out, well, I'll just be posting this. I'm trying to keep this blog more on the lines of style and beauty, and occasionally I will talk about television ( I watch a lot!), movies, or music, SO... this is a one time kind of post.

Let's get started!

Ingredients:

6 ripe avocados (This will serve appr. 8-10 people)
1 medium tomato
1 medium-large onion
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
1 lime
salt & pepper

De-pit and remove the skin from your avocados. After you have done that, place them in a bowl. You want the bowl to be quite large because you're going to be adding more ingredients. If your bowl isn't large enough, the ingredients will pour out the top of the bowl while you mix everything together.

Chop your tomato to the desired chunkiness you would like, and add it to the bowl. Don't forget to add the tomato juice left on your cutting board into the bowl. It gives the guacamole a more intense and sweet flavor.

Chop your onion to the size pieces you like and add them to the bowl. The onion is what counter acts the sweetness of the tomato, and really adds a lot of flavor to the guacamole. I like the onions to be pretty chunky, but it's all a personal preference.

Next, add your cilantro. Make sure it is chopped very fine. The cilantro is one of the most important ingredients, and adds a great flavor to the guacamole.

Add salt & pepper (however much you like), and squeeze out 1 lime (be VERY generous). The lime is very important because it helps the avocados stay fresh longer and prevents them from browning.

Take a potato masher (if you don't have one a fork will work) and mash the avocados till all the large chunks have been crushed. If you like your guacamole more chunky, be careful not to over mash. Avocados are very soft!

Now grab your favorite tortillas and enjoy!

Even The Wrong Words Seem To Rhyme

I was planning on posting earlier today, but something came up... The town house next door caught fire! Everyone is safe and our house didn't get touched (hallelujah!). Well, my post was going to involve pictures that I needed to take with my camera, and the unexpected event prevented me from doing that. I need natural day light and the fire happened the last 2-3 hours the sun was up so I didn't get to photograph what I wanted, but I'm going to try to work around my plans tomorrow to get them taken and get the post up.

Anyways, who watched SYTYCD?!? The last season was so boring, but I'm really enjoying this season and really liking a lot of the dancers too. My favorites include:

1. Kent Boyd

2. Lauren Froderman

3. Ashley Galvan

I also really like Billy Bell, Adechike Torbert, and Jose Ruiz. Am I the only one who isn't crazy about Alex Wong? The contemporary piece he danced with Allison that the judges went crazy over didn't even wow me. And the hiphop routine... was just a hiphop routine. If you are wondering who I want to win, it's Kent. But I wouldn't be sad if Ashley or Lauren won. Let me know who your favorites are! And really, lets just talk about Lauren & Kent's contemporary piece that Travis Wall choreographed... AMAZING!!!

Welcome

I'm so excited to finally be starting a blog. I've wanted to for so long and today is the day that it begins. I don't want to take over my first post with a typical first post introduction, but I will list a few things about me. My name is Victoria and I am utterly in love with style, beauty, and anything under those lines. I will be starting my last year of high school a little over a month from now. I thought I would start this blog off with my current wishlist, which I hope to make a dent in this summer.

Marc By Marc Jacobs "Henry" Stainless Steel Watch

I've been on the search for the perfect watch for so long now. I have finally found it! I had been set on the Michael Kors White Chronograph Resin Band Watch for about two years. Recently, I've looked back on the watch and realized that I don't like it anymore. This MJ watch is simple, pretty, and I don't see it going out of style.

sTORI Telling By Tori Spelling

Me being a fan of Tori Spelling, I've always been interested in reading her books. Since her newest book Uncharted TerriTORI was just recently released, I think it's time that I do!

Essie Summer 2010 Collection

I really like this collection that Essie has come out with. I don't own any Essie polishes, and that needs to change. All of there collections have been extremely exceptional over the past year, but I still always find myself buying the latest OPI collection. My next trip to Ulta I will be sure to pick up a few Essie polishes.

House Of Harlow 1960 Peacock Necklace

I really love the House Of Harlow line and don't own anything from it yet. For my birthday this year, I asked my mother for a HH key necklace, but had a sudden change of mind when the OPI Shrek collection was released and I asked for that instead (DAMN you OPI!) I think this necklace is so pretty. I have recently made the switch to gold jewelry, yet majority of what I own is silver, so this will be a great piece to purchase.

Mac Alice + Olivia Collection

I really want to purchase something from this collection, and I'm definately leaning towards the pigments. I'm trying to decide between If It Sparkles...(sparkly white) and Later.(shimmery black w/ blue duo-chrome). I would get more use out of IIS but Later. is more unique and I could use it for a smokey night look.
Hmm...

Alexander Wang Mirte Laced Zip Boots

I NEED these. I fell in love with the Freja boots, but being so tall (6'2") I probably wouldn't wear them. That's when I discovered these babies while looking at the rest of the AW spring/summer collection, and fell head over heels. (question... why isn't it heels over head?) Anyways, I won't be purchasing these, simply because the price is stoping me, but hey! this is a wishlist, so I might as well include them.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you continue to follow me through my blogging journey!
